Buddhist nuns successfully serve both growing numbers of Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike in contemporary Taiwan. Engaged Buddhism and development are synonymous. Traditional Buddhist teachings are being reinterpreted in Engaged Buddhism in this era of globalization which are being used for the development in various fields. Taiwan is a good example of Buddhism and Development in recent years. Buddhist nuns of various Buddhist organizations in Taiwan like Tzu Chi, Fa Gu Shan, Fo Guang Shan are engaged in development work for the society extensively in Taiwan and abroad.
